Why DGL Rather Than Plain Licorice
Whole licorice root contains glycyrrhizin, which is the part associated with concerns around prolonged intake. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice has that fraction removed while keeping the rest of the root material. If a label says DGL, that is the distinction being made.
